Farm Sensory Play

Fall is here!  We are loving the crisp mornings and sweater weather.  Windows are open in our house and the leaves are changing.  It's time for pumpkins and apples!  Zayit had the opportunity to go apple picking with his Gramma and Crampa last week.  He had a blast.  And this last weekend we went to a phenomenal pumpkin patch and play area.  Lots of pictures to be taken and fun to be had!  (If you live locally, you really should check out Fair Weather Acres - it was a ton of fun!)

I thought it would be fun to change our sensory play to include something seasonal... CORN!  This was fun to make.  I bought a couple bags of popping corn and a bag of candy corn, collected some farm toys, and threw this together in just a couple minutes.

Zayit had never seen candy corn before, so I thought it would be safe to include it in the mix.  Not so much.  After a couple days, I heard "Mommi, go away," which usually means he is going to do something that he doesn't want me to see.  Sure enough, as soon as I started to walk away, his little hands grabbed a piece of candy corn and popped it right into his mouth!  That night the candy corn was removed.

Our pumpkin patch/farm outing included a HUGE corn pit that you could play in.  Talk about a sensory experience!  We had so much fun!

We collected our pumpkins from the patch and headed to the car...

    1. It was fun for the color and I think he enjoyed being able to actually eat something out of his sensory bin, but it had to go :(
